...both have been compared to Kenneth the Page on 30 Rock. I thought Jindal was bad, but I did not realize so many republicans would agree. David Brooks went medieval on his ass, calling his arguments "insane" and a "disaster for the Republican Party". Non-Republicans thought it was bad too - my favorite line was from a certain Nobel Prize winning economist (providing this post with yet another TV tie-in to justify it) who wrote that the kind of arguments Jindal was making (e.g. the Governor of the State which contains New Orleans bitching about spending relatively few dollars to improve early warnings for volcano eruptions) are turning the Republican Party into "the party of Beavis and Butthead". (http://krugman.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/02/25/what-should-government-do-a-jindal-meditation/) Some democrats are being a little too quick to predict Jindal's political demise - after all, Bill Clinton gave a very embarrassing (and long) speech at the 1988 Democratic Convention that was supposed to be his political coming out party, and he was able to survive that. One way Clinton came back from that was to go on TV and make fun of himself (and let others make fun of him). Jindal really needs to do that - and PDQ (Clinton did not have to worry about yahoo and facebook). Jindal should get himself booked on Dave next week, let Dave tease him, show he can laugh at himself, and then say something like "I may have proven that I am not as entertaining a public speaker as President Obama, but the point I was making about too much government spending is still important (bla bla bla). --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ TV or Not TV ....
