I saw her in *person* in "Desire Under the Elms" at the Goodman in
Chicago (a show she's taking to Broadway with Brian Dennehy). Outside
of the testosteronal impulses of myself, she's one fine actress.
A few weeks before, I was ushering at the other end of the Goodman
complex for the first show in their Eugene O'Neill festival. It was
the opening night and "Desire" hadn't opened yet, so I got to tear her
ticket, while mumbling something about how I looked forward to
"Desire" and she smiled and said thanks. Like so many actresses,
she's much tinier in person than she seems on the screen and her moon-
face is more cute-looking than hawt up close, but she does have a
presence anywhere she goes. She also had an entourage (not Vince, E,
Johnny Drama and Turtle) after the show, so that's all the time I had
with her. I had more of a chat some weeks later with Patricia
Kalember, who's doing "Don't Dress for Dinner" now in town (and was
doing it with that "Burn Notice" guy). Nice lady, but she's not
Carla. :)
