I caught the new Obama show last night and thought it was pretty good - he just needs to get a better comic for his opening act. I will inhibit most of my "Dave would have done a better job interviewing" comments. But Garth Brooks? Is he really Leno's Bruce Springsteen?
I do have a Leno observation/question that I think goes to why I like Dave and not him (though it may be more effect than cause). After Leno tells a joke he will occasinoally turn to the band and repeat half the set up and the punchline, at higher volume. Dave does that too sometimes. But it seems to me that when Dave does it he is being sarcastic - kind of making fun of an old, sometimes desperate comic tactic to get a laugh, while when Leno does it, it seems like he is really just trying to get a laugh. Am I being unfair to Leno - is he self-consciously parodying himself as well?
