Meanwhile, Tom, I was just pokin' fun at Kevin's criticism of Obama's "set" with my comments, not actually calling for a genuine comparison with Bush's routines. Judging the President's attempts at stand-up comedy in relation to a professional's performance seems pretty gratuitous. As for Colbert's gig, forgive my lack of clarity on the subject. I should have been less obtuse in making the point that the greater media dust-up after his WHC dinner gig was probably due to his skewering of the press itself. I shall ask again: Is there anything more subjective than a sense of humor?
