The channel that said at its launch (when Ted Turner was still running
things) that you would only see live human beings without cartoon
characters during commercials rolls out Wednesday night a two-night-a-
week summer lineup of first-run reality shows branded "Real" in an
attempt to grab a slightly-older audience than their mainstay 6-to-11
kids (not to mention go after a genre competitors Nick and Disney have
stayed away from, for the most part) but risk offending the channel's
core audience (although the adult viewers probably gave up on CN about
the time Warners and "Popeye" shorts and "Flintstones" reruns were
shunted off to sister channel Boomerang):
