Well, Senator Franken did not make a Night Court reference, but he did
liven up the proceedings with some extended riffing on Perry Mason.

Soto has earlier mentioned that she was inspired to be a prosecutor
because of something Hamilton Burger said to Perry at the end of one
of his many losses, when Perry said something like "it must be tough
to lose so often" and Burger said "no, as a prosecutor, I win whenever
a guilty man goes to prison or an innocent man goes free, because my
job is doing justice".

Al, started with a little story about how he was watching Perry Mason
every week with his family in MN at the same time that Soto was
watching it in the Bronx, and now isn't it "cool" that she is
answering questions as a supreme court nominee (he did not add, but
clearly could have, that the only thing more improbable than Soto
going on the Supreme Court - other than the election of the dude who
appointed her, was the election of the guy asking her questions).

Al closed his 30 minutes by asking Soto about the one case that Burger
won (both she and Al had referenced that earlier). Soto was unable to
name it. Well known comic and Committee Chair Pat Leahey broke into to
ask Al the name of the case, which he was unable to name as well.
Leahey then says that since Al doesn't know the name of the case, they
won't disqualify Soto from serving on the Supreme Court because she
did not know it.

I heard this last exchange on the radio and have not had time to check
out the post-game coverage on the news yet today - I presume if not
already then tomorrow they will be providing the name and particulars
of the Case that Burger won and Perry lost. Can anyone supply the
details here? (I knew this as at one time, but would have to go ask
the wikis now to remember).
