In the course of working on a small project I searched for and found a clip of Sammy Davis Jr singing Candyman. There are two or three, but my attention was drawn to the one linked to below, not because it is the best (it is not) but because I have an overpowering feeling of remembering watching this exact performance when it was originally broadcast. I am not an expert youtuber - perhaps the original identifying information giving the program is there and I am not seeing it, or maybe someone here has a good enough memory to supply it? Mostly what I see on the video is that it was part of some retro show on VH1.
The video says it was from 1972, and I want to say it was the Flip Wilson Show (I think they had that 360 degree stage on that show). What I really remember is Sammy saying that he waited 40 years to get a #1 record - but maybe he said this a lot when introducing this song that year, so I guess it could have been a number of different show. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LkI2ZIUgzAg&feature=related --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ TV or Not TV ....
