The BSG remake was an attempt to make something better out of something, well, crappy. It managed to work for a while.
Original Rockford is a quality program, so the proper concern is screwing up something that is pretty good to begin with. I suppose Carrell could do it, but it would be a shift from his past work, a different kind of comedy chops. There's an element of weariness to the character that all the other folks named have in abundance.
