I know you feel that way. I think there is no reason that people who
liked the fist four seasons (the Sorkin years) would not like the last
two. Well, that is not quite true - the last two seasons lack Sorkin's
pace, and they did simplify the narratives and make them more
conventional and soap opera-ish. But after the got rid of the dreadful
Mid-East Peace plot the 6th season begins an arc that picks up and
reinforces core themes and images of the show, and if not the
transcendent works of literature that the Sorkin episodes were, they
still make for very good television. If you only swooped in half way
though season 7 (the run up to the debate) then it might have been
hard to see what they were doing.
