I'm impressed I got this part right. Cartoon Brew posted about the episode
last Monday <http://www.cartoonbrew.com/disney/family-guy-goes-disney.html>and
revealed that Darlie Brewster was one of the main animators for the
sequence. She's a veteran of Don Bluth's studio. (Of course she was also a
veteran of Disney, which is not surprising given that Bluth was a breakaway
talent from Disney.)

Note, Cartoon Brew's editorial policy on Family Guy is "No sir, I don't like
it <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0-oJZ4GbvY>." I'm sure the show's
character design actually causes Amid Amidi physical pain. But my criticism
isn't his (which argues largely that the good design is paramount and
cartoons can't be written by script, the latter I disagree with strongly,
the former I disagree with partially).

I probably didn't explain it well last week -- I thought the season premiere
was a better episode than the usual, or more accurately, there were better
scenes mixed in with the generally typical scenes. Also, why the ep felt so
odd to me was that they found a way to use the staple of FG -- "the manatee
joke" -- as the plot. Each multiverse is in essence a manatee joke -- and
the ones that worked actually fleshed out the joke in some way
"Disney/Bluthverse" or was brief enough that they didn't have time to over
explain it in dialog "the real life universe".

Still, Family Guy's big weakness to me is that it is a confuses references
for comedy. It's not unlike a Jason Friedberg/Aaron Seltzer movie.

Comparing last week's episode with last night's episode it felt like night
vs day in terms of quality. I feel like I'm rambling now, since it's 4:30am.
I could probably make a better argument if I got some sleep, and think about
it more when I wake up.
