Doc and his Tonight Show Band put out at least three regular albums and one Christmas album, each outstanding. The Branford Marsalis incarnation of the Tonight Show Band actually collaborated on Marsalis' two Buckshot LeFonque CDs, which were unclassifiable blends of jazz, hip-hop, R&B, and rock. Kevin Eubanks put out a few CDs featuring a few members of his version of the Tonight Show band, but they tended toward smooth jazz which I'm not a fan of. -- Kevin M.
