Yeah, I've got a copy of the pilot on VHS somewhere, but it can't have been from the original airdate because my family wouldn't have a VCR for another few years. But I recall more of the Vietnam sequences closer to the beginning of the episode... it was one of the first (if not the first) shows to feature Vietnam-vets as central characters. Still, it was one of few shows which deserved the popularity it had. A decent cast of character actors, well-rounded characters (right from the start), and the right combination of action and drama. And now I'm reminded of the episode of Conan's Late Night when he faked a Hawaii episode. He taped a segment on the banks of the Hudson River, which he claimed was a beach in Hawaii. As proof he was in Hawaii, he pointed out all the palm trees (there was only one palm tree, which a grip was not too subtly carrying around) and then he pointed out Rick & TC standing on the beach. Sure enough, there was Roger Mosley and Larry Manetti, al-be-it in heavy coats and scarves (it was not exactly summer in New York when they shot the episode). -- Kevin M. (RPCV) -- TV or Not TV ....
