As for Absolute Radio, we put the Rage song on our C list (very much the
"radio edit"), and were reasonably supportive of it.

Of course we don't play any of the X-Factor contestants on the station -
tending instead to play the original versions of whatever tracks are popular
that week. (Secretly many people watch X-Factor of course).

I do find it funny that we're playing a Daughtry song - a band that's
genesis is American Idol.

Anyway, more than anything I think that it shows that a concerted Facebook
and Twitter campaign really can work. I both the Rage and the X-Factor song
sold somewhere in the region of 500,000 copies this week: a factor of at
least five times as many as in a usual week.

The X-Factor single did have the benefit of being sold in UK supermarkets on
CD, whereas Rage was a download only (and thus the first ever download only
Christmas UK no. 1).
