Jay can't go back to Tonight at this point. It would completely destroy
his "good guy" image, or what's left of it at this point. There is no
way to "spin" that.
What needs to happen is for Jay to say "It didn't work." and walk away.
He supports Conan as The Tonight Show host and goes back to 300 nights a
year doing 20-year old stand up material.
Either that or NBC cans his ass (but obviously, Leno must give great
head to still be the network favorite) and starts supporting Conan like
they should have from Day 1.
