It could be like the recurring appearance of Paul Newman in the audience during the early "Late Show" years.
And if there's an issue with Conan being in New York during a taping, he could visit Craig as one of those aliens that communicate via whirling tubes. Or if there's a Conan puppet floating about, he could chat with Wavy Rancheros. And props to Fallon and the Roots for pouring the 40 for Coco. Though I find it depressing that The Dr. Oz show is taping in the old studio.
