I think there are 2 factors that will affect Tonight Show ratings as
Jay returns. First, people are creatures of habit and a lot of people
who casually tuned into the Tonight Show with Jay and not with Conan
now have new habits at 11:35. Whether it's sleep or catching up on the
DVR, the automatic function of having the TV on NBC will be gone. The
second factor, as Kevin and others brought up, is that there's no new
energy coming with the return of Jay. It's hard to build buzz around
that kind of show.
