I miss the days when BBC America would air the BAFTAs live and uncut to the U.S. at 3 p.m. ET.
Now we get a hamhandedly edited version in prime time. Seven of the 25 awards were cut from the broadcast (Music, Sound, Cinematography, Editing, Short Animation, Short Film and Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema), and several thank-yous were chopped with a cleaver. The director of "A Prophet" and his translator were charming and funny until they were yanked, and Mark Boal was given one sentence in his acceptance of the Best Film award. More curious, emcee Jonathan Ross introduced that category by saying there were two awards to go -- but Best Film was the last one shown. One more demerit for BBCA. jd -- TV or Not TV ....
