Seems that since the beginning of the year, Chris Albrecht, the architect of HBO's successful entry into original scripted series, has been the CEO at Starz, the premium channel that's finally trying for an original series presence after almost two decades of the "movies movies new hit movies" mantra. He was speaking at parent Liberty Media's fourth-quarter earnings conference call to Wall St. types yesterday and said that he's cancelling "Crash," the channel's first hour drama, after two seasons, while trying to find a niche for the channel that's like but not like HBO, I guess--he also stated that the future of the channel's underperforming theatrical movie arm Overture Films is still under review:

Its latest release, the remake of the George Romero horror film "The Crazies" with lefty-cause- oriented Participant Productions, opens tomorrow. -- TV or Not TV .... The Smartest (TV) People!
