I thought Leno looked strangely uncomfortable and un-energized. He
joked that he was nervous that Dave and Oprah were watching, but it
seemed more like he was embarrassed by the whole situation.

He did do a short "Headlines" from one of the houses during the
"Search for a Desk" segment.

That "Search for a Desk" segment is probably the best thing I have
seen Leno do in a very long time, though as usual his live banter
about the desk was awkward and floundering. My favorite part though
was probably the woman who was mildly amused that Jay Leno was in her
house, but then completely flipped when Randy Jackson from American
Idol walked into her living room

But...didn't Conan do something very similar his first week on the Tonight Show?

I am wondering why Kevin stopped wondering why Leno didn't address
Conan's fans in some way - was it just because it became clear he was
both uninterested and incapable of reaching out to them? I am still
surprised Leno did not use the last three weeks to soften his stance
toward Conan in some kind of self-depreciating way - and at the very
least find some way to acknowledge him. This Stalinist writing him out
of the history of the show is off-putting.
