Yes -- my father was doing that for a time with a Series 2 TiVo.

However, you might want to check out pricing on an upgrade to an HD TiVo.  That 
would obviate the need for a cable box -- the HD TiVo replaces the box (all 
you'd need from your cable company is a couple of magical CableCards).
