I didn't mean to imply NCIS: LA was equal to Homicide, merely that the
specific story "resolution" is atypical of series television, and was
the sort of thing Homicide was notorious for (much to NBC's chagrin).
I don't watch CSI or CSI: NY, but I can tolerate two or three CSI:
Miami episodes per year. I tried the original and New York editions,
but found both to be too formulaic. At least the Miami one doesn't
always use the big city backdrop (and subsequent stereotypes).

I think that occurs whenever a younger cast tries to follow in a more
senior cast's footsteps. Look at "Stargate: Universe" and how they
were desperate to establish characters, whereas SG1 and even Atlantis
(admittedly to a lesser extent than SG1) allowed characters to develop
and mature over time. I'm not wild about Chris O'Donnell (a.k.a. the
Boy Wonder) acting like he's seen all and done all, the way Gibbs does
on the original NCIS, but I think the series has done a decent job of
putting him in his place, usually by LL Cool J's character. I don't
think O'Donnell is a good actor, but the chemistry between he and LL
works somehow. You don't find a lot of partners in cop shows anymore
(it is mostly teams including forensic experts and junior detectives
and on and on) and it is nice (if not a little quaint) to see.

I'm very curious to see whether the next episode will call back to the
events of the "Found," and if so to what extent. I'd hate to see it
revert to typical procedural mode where nothing ever changes.
