I read it -- all six internet pages of it. It glosses over the actual
statements made by Leno, NBC execs, and ultimately many in the media
-- false claims in large part -- that Conan's ratings were the factor.
Conan wasn't fired because of his ratings. The above paragraph cites
Jay's poor ratings as the reason Conan had poor ratings which, ipso
facto, was why he was fired. I'd argue that Conan's ratings weren't
the key issue. The key issue was that the 10pm numbers sucked ass and
Leno had to be removed from there, but it was cheaper to relocate him
back to late night rather than fire him. The money was in prime time
and the ad revenue was in prime time, so better late night be screwed
than prime time.
