NY PBS flagship WNET settles a government audit into how it spent
federal grant money and the NY Daily Rupert finds an excuse to do a
"shut down PBS" editorial, dragging out the same tired excuse that
cable's doing what PBS does better, which proves that the Post
editorial board has not watched A&E since "Biography" got its own
channel (at least they left Bravo out as an example of quality--too
many "Real Housewives" articles, I suspect--but they do cite--chuckle,
snort--Fixed Noise):

This of course, is a common theme around News Corp.--in the UK,
Murdoch's lieutenants have called more than once for the BBC to sell
off their mass appeal radio nets (Radio 1, Radio 2, Radio Five Live)
and their more popular shows ("Doctor Who," "EastEnders," "Strictly
Come Dancing (With the Stars)") to private sources (in the case of TV
shows, we bet they want those shows to be sold to Murdoch's Sky One).
I would assume that in Australia they have called many times for the
dismantling of the ABC and SBS pubcasters.
