I understand loyalty, and that's why I'm not surprised at Evanier's questionable suggestion that Leno is more worth his time than Letterman, but I don't find today's Dave that different from the Dave I've been watching for the past decade. No question in my mind that C- Ferg is the best of the late-night network gabbers these days, but Dave is still head and shoulders above Jay in relevance, legit wit, interviewing skills, and on-camera presence (despite what appear to be occasional senior moments). He's politically and environmentally astute, and he seems far more savvy and appreciative of his musical guests, new and old, than anyone in his peer group other than Conan and Fallon. Of course, YMMV - and usually does, TONT-ers.
