OK... last post about this, then I'm moving on. Hollywood Reporter did a genuinely bad interview with Laura. No followups. Mostly fluff questions. But Laura's answers to the two questions sums up the two-faced chunkhead better than anything I've ever seen. heard, or read:
HOW ABOUT A FAVORITE MOVIE? Schlessinger: Do I have to tell you the truth? It's "Kill Bill" volumes one and two, because I'm a martial artist. The fight scenes were amazing. All that samurai stuff -- amazing! ANYTHING IN POP CULTURE YOU HATE NOWADAYS? Schlessinger: Oh, yeah, all that kind of music that talks about rape, murder, killing people, hating women. I don't like the evil stuff. Our children hear that and it becomes normalized. That's sad. It hurts our children soooo much. I just love it when a G-rated movie comes out and it makes more money than anything. It's like, "Hello Hollywood, this is how you make money. You put out quality, sweet things." You remember "Up"? That was adorable. That's what Hollywood should be doing, not grossing people out. Except for the "Kill Bill" and "Godfather" movies. I'm sorry. In a past life, I must have been a samurai or something. http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20100820/people_nm/us_drlaura Yep. In the same breath she talks about how deplorable violent films are while listing "Kill Bill" and "The Godfather" as personal favorites. I may have misjudged Laura; she may be the funniest woman alive. Oh, and wasn't it delightful how she managed to sneak into the interview that she had dinner with a gay man AND a black man? At the same time, even! How progressive of her. Now, had I conducted that interview, my immediate follow up to that statement would have been, "And when you saw your black friend, did you say, 'Wassup N-----?'" Because something tells me this self-proclaimed champion of free speech does not use that word around her black friend. Maybe Laura is just oversensitive and needs to get over herself -- wasn't that her advice to her caller? -- Kevin M. (RPCV) -- TV or Not TV .... The Smartest (TV) People!
