As point of comparison, Friday they repeated the most recent appearance of Regis on the Late Show. Dave was trying to get Regis to bet him about being able to see the Statue of Liberty from the Brooklyn Bridge. Dave ratcheted it up to $10K for Gulf Coast relief. Regis didn't take, and would have lost if he did (he took the no position). The point is that $10 grand is pretty minor for both of these guys.

I meant this somewhat ironically - the actual article is headlined "Jay Leno Raises $100,000 for Gulf Coast Recovery" with a photo of him giving one of those over sized checks. The comedy show he did at the casino raised $90,336, and it says Leno kicked in the rest to make the check 100K. My reaction, too, was that this was nice, but from a guy who could pretty easily just write the 100K check himself without noticing it too much it didn't seem to merit a big headline. That is probably mean spirited, for all we know Leno gives a huge chunk of his Today Show millions to charity on the down low, eschewing publicity (as Dave does). -- TV or Not TV ....
