I wouldn't dream of watching this myself, but X-Factor returned to UK TV screens at the weekend with a massive 11m viewers (not bad for the summer), and a brand new scandal:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/tv-and-radio/2010/aug/22/x-factor-accused-autotune-enhancing-singers The audition rounds of X-Factor used to be like Idol and take place in bland hotel conference rooms with no backing tracks and just dry vocals. But now they perform on stage a la Talent. Some bright spark at the production company decided to "tidy up" the vocals of competitors who went through to the next round. A pretty odd thing to do since this is primarily a singing contest, and if you can't sing, then you shouldn't be in it. Something to look out for in other reality shows? Adam -- TV or Not TV ....
