Right - except that was the point of that scene, so it seems like it added
to the local credibility of the show (the long-time Detroit detective
telling the Indian immigrant detective not to put ketchup on his coney).

I almost did not record this show - I had read three very dismissive
reviews. But I decided to give it a try, and wound up watching it last
night. I'm glad I did. It is not ground breaking, and derivative not only of
NYPD Blue and HLOS, but also more recent shows like Southland and The
Unusuals. If you don't like cop shows then you won't like this, but if you
do like cop shows this one was pretty good. And what was the last show set
in Detroit?
