You might want to see if you can find Law & Order: UK. It's updated versions
of
Original Recipe episodes, transplanted to the U.K. They just started running
on
BBCA, and I find them as enjoyable as the average L&O.

I confess -- as mentioned before -- the iTunes Store moves slowly in
Kazakhstan, and the power was out one day this week, and I only have
internet at work, so I still have a few minutes of the pilot episode
remaining to be downloaded. But I have two points to raise about what
I have seen so far.

First, the bald guy with the porn star mustache only seems to have (or
at least only seems to use) a single facial expression. In serious
scenes he is smirking. In the lighter moments he is smirking. His
facial expression never changes, and it only rarely seems to match the
mood of the moment.

Second, one reference to pop culture is fine, but multiple references
in the span of a few minutes isn't good. Facebook, TMZ, Perez Hilton,
and others all got a mention in the pilot episode. Dick Wolf's
franchises are designed to be played and replayed over and over again.
While Facebook may have some staying power, I'm not so sure about the
others, which means this episode has a specific shelf life/expiration
date. Also, that much pop culture tells me the show is either written
by teenagers, or written by old farts like me who are desperate to
relate to the younger crowd.
