While I was over at tvbtn I saw their piece on Fringe:

I can't remember the last television program that has improved as steadily
and as much as Fringe has. From episode 1 there was something appealing
about the supporting cast, and the potential was clearly there, but it was
just as clearly not working. They had the pieces in place but did not really
know how to use them. Then slowly they figured out that their supporting
characters were key, and started featuring Peter and Walter more (though
they never have figured out how to really use the diamond they have in
Broyles). I think the show went from promising to very good last year when
they made Astrid a real character and not just "Black female FBI agent #3".
Astrid brings out elements in the Walter character that really round him
out. Then this year (well, the end of last year) they figured out a way to
show us that Anna Torv is not the cardboard under-achieving actress she has
seemed all this time, but was just the victim of an unfortunate character
choice by Torv and JJ. Alternate Oliva is sexy and hot and fun.

This show really has paid off those of us who stuck with it during the lean,
slow days (my daughter gave up on it 2/3 of the way through and I have been
giving her grief about it). The tvbtn guys think its ratings will still be
stale, but I am hoping word starts to spread that this is now a good show,
and easily the best show currently on the Fox schedule.
