I was also worried about Martin Freeman being able to schedule another series of Sherlock around his new Hobbit commitments, even though the second series of Sherlock was announced first. I'm pretty sure I know which one has the more significant pay packet. But according to this tweet from Mark Gatiss (Executive Producer and co-creator of Sherlock), Freeman will be able to do both gigs:
