Kevin Smith has more airline trouble. http://silentbobspeaks.com/?p=398
I've got to say, based on his own assessment of the situation, it was his "concierge" Dorothy who let him down, not the airline (he touts her experience, but the fact remains the door was closed when he arrived at the gate -- if she has experience, shouldn't she know there are occasionally airline employees who close the door early, because I'm not experienced but even I know that). According to one of his podcasts, he is setting a goal of losing some weight. As someone who could stand to lose (more than) a few pounds myself, I can relate and wish him well. But it was his vanity -- he was tired of getting singled out because of his obesity, so he hired a service to basically watch the clock and tell him when the flight was nearly ready to leave -- that was his undoing in this instance. Virgin made good with tickets and refunds, but I think that has more to do with Smith's legions of Twitter followers than the rightness or wrongness of their case (he indicated the reasons didn't matter to him, but I don't buy that). -- Kevin M.
