And to explain this complication a little better: "As It Happens" airs from 6:30 to 8 p.m. every weeknight on CBC Radio 1 in all time zones ( 7 p.m. in Newfoundland). However, it seems that while we all weren't looking, PRI reacquired the U.S. rights to the show as of this past July 1. (WBEZ in Chicago doesn't carry the show-- when it did, some years ago, the humorless pompous asses who make up too much of the public radio audience bitched about the show's snarkiness and others bitched about the show because it was Canadian and it went off after a year.) And since I assume almost every station in the U.S. starts the show at the top of the hour, I have no idea what PRI uses to cover the five minutes in the middle where the 7 p.m. newscast goes in in Canada (I assume some stations plug in "Marketplace Tech Report"). -- TV or Not TV ....
