A link to an article about Al Jazeera's lack of availability in the US, as well as updates on which cable/satellite providers have made it available (former PBS station KCET in LA shows a half hour newscast produced by the network). http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/01/30/al-jazeera-english-us_n_816030.html I don't watch the network often, and I'm sure they have actual bureaus all over the Middle East (as opposed to the US cable and broadcast news divisions who rely on footage from others and borrow on-air talent from BBC and related sources), but I have checked out the English version of the website and been largely unimpressed. I guess it comes down to which is worse: telling a story in a biased, distorted manner or not telling it at all? The "Conspiracy Theories" and "Let's Talk" portions of the site make comments uttered by FoxNews pundits seem lucid and rational. That said, my mom's cable has channels from Russia, Germany, Britain, Japan, Korea, and Mexico, each offering news content in English.
