Not entirely out of order - they're pairing the December specials with the first two new episodes in order to fill the full prime-time block. Last night was the US East Coast Driving Holiday special (technically the last episode of Series 15) and the first episode of Series 16. Next week they're airing the Xmas special (the Three Wise Men trip) and episode 16x02 (presumably without the Mexican insult rant). I imagine beyond that BBCA will revert to their usual method of "new ep + last week's ep".
