I'm making no aspersions on Mr. Buck. But the voice was affected in a way that, if it continued and/or worsened, would have affected the broadcast (IMO). It wasn't congestion, but early hoarseness, from what I heard.
Looking at this more generally, I don't recall a situation where a broadcaster was subbed out for voice trouble (or at least publicly so).
