I wondered how long it would take one of the big dogs to make it into the broadcast centers tonight. A momentous occasion. A solid speech by the president, in my view. I am very interested to hear more about the actual operation that was conducted. And Twitter and Facebook are absolutely on fire tonight. This is a night that validates my practice of periodically checking news sites while working at my computer. While my TV is on while I work, it is almost always on some recorded program, and if I don't remember to check the news periodically I would not know if anything big had happened. I just happened to check CNN.COM about 15 minutes after the first report was posted. That led to my first serious monitoring of across the channel television news coverage in a long time - probably since the 2008 presidential election. After checking CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, ABC and CBS, I quickly realized that Wolf Blitzer is a buffoon, and simply can not be taken seriously. MSNBC, which was mostly NBC did a nice job with first David Gregory and then Brian Williams. ABC with George Steph, and CBS their weekend anchor (black guy, I think something Mitchell) were fine as well. I found myself settling in with Brian Williams, and wondering where the network ladies were? Is this a result of Brian coming back from the British nonsense while Katie and Diane stayed behind? -- TV or Not TV .... The Smartest (TV) People!
