I think there's a small amount of apples and oranges going on here.  Part of 
the 
shrug factor about Hawking's remarks is that it's not the first time he's made 
them.  Now if Charles and Camilla's wedding had the same level of vicarious 
fantasizing of his first marriage, or of the recent spectacle, then I think the 
comparison makes more sense.


That said, the notion of having a measured debate in a 30 minute news program, 
whether or not religion was involved, seems really silly.  Even the semi-annual 
Stewart-O'Reilly exchanges (on either of their shows) can't be taken seriously.

If you didn't complain about the saturation coverage of the royal
wedding, you can't complain about this.
