Anyway, it is the *first* musical theme they ever used for the CBS Evening News -- they were the last to introduce a theme, using something of a ticker-tape sound for the open. And actually, they're using what was part of the close to open the program. (The original '87 open is weird in that -- this is where my lack of musical education will betray me -- it doesn't resolve... it's all lift... you expect there to be climbdown for a close, but there isn't... it just leaves you hanging.)
