Which makes him the last of the CBS staff announcers to still be heard
on the network, as he continues to not only do "60 Minutes" promos,
but is still the show's announcer ("'60 Minutes,'" a CBS News
magazine, will return in a moment" and the "60" iPad app plug at the
end). The only other CBS staffers close to Gilliand are Bern Bennett,
who was still heard on "The Young and Restless"" station break years
after his retirement from the net, and Alan Burns, whose "this
iiiissss CBS" ID was heard until around 2000.
