The target audience was, as Mark mentions, female and not conventional sports fans. Thus, they were unlikely to stumble across Olympic results. It will be interesting to see if prime time continues to look the same with NBC's avowed commitment to live coverage; they certainly will retain some clout in event scheduling. (I think they assumed conventional sports fans would tune in for many years. If enough people like me found the prime time coverage unwatchable, they may take advantage of the opportunity to refocus on the sporting aspects of the Games, but that remains to be seen.) -- TV or Not TV ....
