You're going to see a lot more of this in the future. In this day of
fractured audiences, rising production costs and falling profit, anything
that appears to decrease risk will be jumped upon... and what easier way to
reduce risk is to just readapt an existing item. Presumably there's a
built-in audience for Hong Kong Phooey. (OK, that's a stretch, but it's
likely the motion-picture equivalent to a paint-by-numbers kit. You don't
have to risk some screenwriter pushing some complicated and confusing story.
You just fill in the blanks. "Hong Kong Phooey, number _____ super-guy. Hong
Kong Phooey, ____ than the human ______. " Bam, film's done!)
