Don't get me wrong. I am quite aware that there will be no stopping
the venal brand-tested approach of most show-biz corporations owning
previously purposed product - especially in thei tight economic
environment. And these companies can and will do what they want with
their "possessions." But most of the remakes are generally inferior to
the original iterations. And when the original is IMHO as weak a
property as "Hong Kong Phooey," and the talent attached is as faded
and in need of a career boost as Murphy ("Dreamgirls"
notwithstanding), I can't and won't be enthused.
