Maybe we can have a version of The Lone Ranger without stunt-casting
his faithful Indian companion?

I still haven't seen Cowboys & Aliens yet, but it is the only movie in
about a year that I look forward to seeing because it seems like
classic escapist fare -- nothing that will win awards, just silly fun.
And that is what The Lone Ranger was, and it is what it ought to be.

I watched the syndicated version of the serial in the '70s. If memory
serves, the Lone Ranger would air alongside shows like The Munsters
and Adam-12 on KTLA in Los Angeles. I don't believe I've seen it since
then, the lone (sorry) exception being the episode of "The Greatest
American Hero" featuring The Lone Ranger. I assume the episodes would
be cheesy by today's standards, but back then they got the job done.
