I am still not sure if we got a standard national deal for new subscribers, or something extra special since our area just had the cable newly strung this spring, but we are getting landline phone (which for various reasons the oldsters in our home still want), internet faster and more reliable than AT&T (only other real option here) and television for three TVs (one HD), 2 of the fancy DVRs and all of the premium channels for under $135.00/month - that is a two year commitment, goes up I think $20/month the second year, but even averaged over the 2 years it is a big monthly savings over what we had before. When I called to cancel DirecTV they offered a few deals to try to keep me, but could not get even close to the Comcast deal. But as you say, I do have friends (who do not live in our community) who have told me they recently made the move the other way because a deal from DirecTV made things cheaper than Comcast. -- TV or Not TV ....
