I thought both "Whitney" and "2 Broke Girls" suffered from Diablo Cody Syndrome - where the snark and smug swamp any semblance of wit. On her eponymous show, Cummings came off somewhat sexy, but also insufferably smirky. And the script was tired tired tired. Better off Whit-less? And "2 Broke Girls," although superior to "Whitney" thanks to Kat Dennings and the premise, featured writing that was so belabored and too-hip-for-the-room that even this unrepentant hipster was cringing. Plus the supporting characters were ridiculously heavy-handed, except for Garrett Morris who was an exercise in likeable mumbling.
