All I can assume is they deliberately wanted to avoid Apple's overproduced, overrehearsed keynotes, and in so doing they went the opposite way and made it appear as though Zuckerberg rolled out of bed, smoked a phat blunt, then magically found his way to the stage.
And we all know unless you have a flashy presentation, your ideas are worthless.
