I remember you used to report on filling out online surveys for NBC. They probably harvested your email address from that. I did a couple of surveys, but I didn't get added to the email list. I don't think what NBC is doing is especially silly as long as they are giving some value to people who join their fan community. In the long term it can help build their brand and it gives them a dedicated group of fans to spread their PR messages. When I bought a Toyota 4 years ago I signed up at a web site for Toyota owners with the idea that it could be a useful online community like Apple has. As it turned out they had no idea of what to do with the site. But I see where big companies get their ideas, and unlike Toyota which can only sell a car every few years, NBC has changing content all the time. -- TV or Not TV .... The Smartest (TV) People!
