>From the mediabistro story that Bob linked to at the top of this thread: The script was tease copy for Monday’s “Eye on Entertainment” package, filed by CBS Newspath correspondent Sandra Hughes. The full version reads: “Conan O’Brien may be about to push the envelope on late night television. And British songstress Adele seems to have pushed her voice too far. CBS’ Sandra Hughes has those stories and more, in your Monday morning ‘Eye on Entertainment.’” (I didn't add any quotation marks, since there are already so many.) Obviously, Conan's video left out the stuff after the reference to him, since it's irrelevant to their comedy. However, it's fair to assume that the same stations that didn't alter the copy at the beginning left in the attributions as well. I haven't seen this package, or any other, but it probably ends with "This is Sandra Hughes, CBS News, with your 'Eye on Entertainment'." All of this should alert the viewer that this isn't a locally produced segment. I agree that local news currently leaves a lot to be desired, and I doubt we'll see much argument here about that, even (especially?) from people who work in it. Not bothering to rewrite the tease for a national fluff segment is the least of their problems; if anything, it indicates good judgment on how to use their resources. -- TV or Not TV ....
