Peter Liguori, a veteran of Fox, has announced that he is stepping down from COO of Discovery Communications--he had also been in the same position at DSC's much publicized co-venture with Harpo Studios the Oprah Winfrey Network--Oprah herself pushed Liquori out at OWN a few months ago in order to take over the reins at the troubled channel (of which the industry has claimed has not been successful because Winfrey was more interested in wrapping up her talk show than getting her cable channel off the ground)--the rumor is that this is what led to Liguori's departure:

It would seem to me that perhaps risking on scripted programming may not be a bad idea, or is the corporate culture of DSC so against scripted programming that it just won't happen? Right now, Rosie O'Donnell's talk show's the best thing on the channel, but if you've hated O'Donnell in the past, the show's not going to change your mind. -- TV or Not TV ....
